As Quality/Materials Engineer you will report to the Quality Manager.  You will spend 80% of your time involved in quality engineering activities and 20% of your time involved in Materials Engineering activities.
You will assist the Quality Manager, Director of Strategic Sourcing and the Director of Product Engineering in the development, implementation and execution of policies and procedures which insure the proper selection , quality, efficiency of procurement, and processing of materials and/ or components through all phases of development, manufacturing and reliability with respect to Metallurgical Engineering and all Quality related activities.

  1. Quality Engineering
    1. Supplier Quality including but not limited to supplier development and improvements, supplier audits, supplier corrective actions, supplier deviations, supplier non-conformances, PSIR’s and supplier performance analysis
    2. Assist in processing Deviations for the Company, Suppliers and/ or Customers when required
    3. Assist in managing the corrective action system for Internal, Supplier and Customer corrective actions
    4. Lead Project Management initiatives for process improvements driven from deviations, rejections, scrap, corrective actions, customer complaints, etc.
    5. Manage Capability Studies and Gage R&R
    6. Assist in Customer Complaint activities including the investigation, root cause analysis, process improvements, etc.
    7. Assist with Internal and External Quality Audits including corrective action audits, customer audits and ISO audits
    8. Assist in the development or review of work instructions and inspection instructions
    9. Assist production with quality issues
    10. Assists with other duties as needed or directed
  2. Materials Engineering
    1. Assist and lead product engineering in development of materials, material specifications and metallurgical processes.
    2. Assist Warranty Department with failure analysis investigations for returned material.
    3. Assist Product Engineering with failure analysis investigations for engineering test material. 
    4. Assist in Supplier Metallurgical issues including but not limited to material selections, material processing issues, etc.

  1. Review Scrap, rejections, Customer Complaints, etc., and actions taken to eliminate the issues.
  2. Review of the audits for corrective actions
  3. Review of supplier analysis and actions taken
  4. Review of Customer Complaints and/or Warranty analysis for material issues
  • BSME or BSMET.  Minor in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science or CQE with Material Science knowledge a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years of quality engineering experience.  Metallurgy/material science experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of problem solving, Project Management, and failure analysis
  • Supplier development experience
  • ISO experience
  • Basis understanding of GD&T
  • Experience in inspection, metrology and auditing strongly desired
  • Knowledge of ferrous metallurgy strongly desired
  • Experience with casting and forging processes preferred
  • Good organizational skills and communication skills – verbal and written
  • Basic understanding of GD&T
  • Multi-tasking experience
  • Detail oriented
  • Willingness to travel internationally preferred
