Join the flagship division of an industry leading, Fortune 250 company as a Project Manager overseeing projects of varying scope and size and serving as the focal point to internal and external stakeholders. 

The Project Manager sets deadlines; assigns responsibilities; monitors progress and reports project status updates to management. This individual contributor role will provide leadership to a matrix project team from varying cross-functional areas while maintaining contact with the customer and internal teams as needed. In addition, this person will participate in process and cost improvement initiatives, working with a world-class operations excellence team. 

Responsibilities include:
  • Create project charter, baseline plan, and other project management components; ensuring accuracy of cost basis and/or pricing by evaluating resource requirements, and performing risk analysis.
  • Plan tasks in conjunction with established project and contractual goals and objectives.
  • Propose recommendations for changes and executes project charter for defined area of responsibility.
  • Identify and address critical issues and leads the development of action plans to improve project performance (e.g. scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, etc.).
  • Ensure process compliance across the project team and facilitate/ensure effective product/technology gate reviews.
  • Communicate project status to Division staff, management, and customer through project/program reviews and elevate issues as required.
  • Identify ways to improve project productivity and/or implementation of appropriate project management methodologies.
  • Determine and negotiate resource allocations with functional managers and monitor/maintain budgetary controls.
  • Monitor and assess baseline budget and integrated schedule performance in coordination with related team members or functional management.

  • 4-year degree in Engineering, Business, or related field required. Advanced degree a plus.
  • Formal project management training (e.g. PMI methodology) and certification (PMP or CAPM) required.  
  • 8+ years of demonstrated project management success; including 2+ years leading multiple projects of varying complexity and scope. 
  • Prior cross-functional and business experience with high-technology customers, products, and processes.
  • Proven working knowledge of the Project Management five-stage process. Knowledge of and demonstrated experience applying formal PM tools and techniques (e.g. scheduling, cost management, change control, risk management, etc.)
  • Proficient with the majority of project management tools, including, but not limited to: scheduling, cost management, change control, time management, scope and resources, work breakdown structures, and risk management.
  • Ability to communicate and serve as the customer advocate to fulfill requirements; provide assistance to resolve problems encountered by the project team.
  • Effective use of interpersonal and presentation skills and negotiation principles with varied audiences. 
  • Proficiency with financial analysis (e.g. cost breakdowns, risk analysis, budget, etc.). Experience with cost, contract terms and conditions, and profit decisions.  
  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance and industry practices (to safeguard the company’s competitive information and intellectual property).
  • Ability to support and develop the project team through training and individual coaching.
  • Lean/Six Sigma experience/certification(s) a plus.
