Great opportunity for a talented Procurement professional to lead the purchasing organization for a large division of a Fortune 250 manufacturing company.

This person will have a direct impact on the division’s competitiveness in the marketplace by optimizing cost controls, vendor management, and supplier quality plans; and enhancing the division’s products and services through the implementation of ISO standards, problem-solving tools, prevention methods, quality-at-the-source and continual improvement techniques. 

This high-profile role is management’s representative for procurement, coordinating the procurement function between business units and locations to cost-effectively support production activities; and interacts with all division functional areas, group/corporate management, customers, and suppliers.

  • Plans and directs the activities of the business’s purchases of raw materials, supplies, equipment and services. Identifies raw material requirements from production specifications, operational schedules and engineering quality requirements.
  • Selects supplier based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications and compliance with governmental procurement regulations. Determines the most cost efficient and reliable material supply required for the manufacturing process, promotes and uses strategic suppliers.  Interviews, selects, and negotiates with suppliers in response to material requirements/cost issues.
  • Ensures purchases and capital expenditures are consistent with Division and Group strategies and within department budgets.  Negotiates network procurement agreements with key suppliers.
  • Develops standard/automated re-order procedures. Implement crisis management and supplier backup contingency programs benchmarks best practices among suppliers and maintain accurate measurements and records for evaluation of suppliers.
  • Facilitates activities related to resolving non-conforming materials and related supplier quality improvement work.
  • Works with division leadership to ensure that individuals performing functions affecting procurement activities are trained and demonstrate the appropriate skills and performance results.
  • Promote safe and clean working conditions and fostering engagement and participation in safety, productivity, cost reduction, and quality improvement programs.
  • Applies continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems.  Works with suppliers to develop and manage continuous improvement programs, addressing quality, delivery, service as well as price.
  • Responsible for embracing and driving lean enterprises systems throughout the procurement process.
  • This position will manage and supervise a complex team (including recruiting, training, development, coaching and evaluation of team members).

  • 4-year degree in Business Management, Materials Management, Engineering or related field required.  APICS or CPIM Certification preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a complex manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years in Procurement
  • 5+ years’ experience in a leadership position
  • Industry experience in oil and gas and/or industrial products a plus.
  • Experience with Supply Chain Management tools and techniques (S&OP, Lean, Six Sigma, Plan For Every Part, JIT, and Statistical Process Control)
  • Functional understanding of International Standard Quality Management Systems; and cost accounting, and practical application of the principles.
  • Ability and experience reading and interpreting Engineering specifications and blueprints
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, facilitation and presentation skills; strong analytic and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to coach, mentor and develop team members
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office proficiency and experience with complex ERP systems
  • Ability to travel as needed
