Seeking a driven Human Resources Generalist to support the HR function for 200+ non-union employees at a manufacturing facility located in Rockford, Illinois. Our Client is a privately held company boasting five decades of record growth and profitability, and a worldwide industry leader in the products they manufacture. This highly visible role offers exposure to all areas of human resources in a growing and successful company, including: employee relations, staffing, leave management, OSHA compliance and safety, training and organizational development, payroll and HRIS management, HR governance and compliance, leadership support, benefits, and employee engagement and education.
  • Maintain a positive and open relationship with plant leadership and employees, supporting the site on all day to day HR functional requirements.
  • Work closely with plant leadership on recruiting efforts and candidate sourcing.  Lead onboarding process to ensure new employees quickly integrate into the company culture.
  • Oversee the leave management function for all employees, including medical and personal leaves of absence.
  • Active role in the plant’s safety program.  Responsible for maintaining the site’s OSHA log and the plant’s Worker’s Compensation case management.
  • Support the Director of Human Resources in employee training, development, and performance management.
  • Maintain employee information in the plant’s HRIS system in preparation of bi-weekly payroll.
  • Consulting with the leadership team, managers and shop floor personnel to enhance employee performance, improving leadership skills, and implementing HR related processes/procedures. 
  • Responsible for management of employee records. Represent the company regarding unemployment, workers compensation, and EEO, OSHA, ADA, and FMLA issues.
  • Active member of the Employee Engagement Committee, driving initiatives to improve employee morale and community involvement.
  • Oversee the administration of employee benefit and wellness programs.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal and professional networks, and visiting benchmarking organizations. Support and lead individual and organizational continuous learning culture and process.
  • 4-year degree in Human Resources or related major required.
  • Advanced degree and/or SHRM Certified Professional (CP); HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR); Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification a plus.
  • 3+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to lead process improvement teams.
  • Hands-on professional with proven experience in employee relations, leadership development, training, performance management, compliance, communications, staffing, compensation and benefit administration.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and experience with payroll and HRIS software required. Familiarity with ERP software a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communicator with all levels of the organization. Proven ability to mentor, motivate and persuade others.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships at the executive and working levels of internal and external organizations; ability to gain and maintain the cooperation and participation of others.
  • Advanced presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
