The Director of Operations is a senior executive level position that is a balance of strategic leadership with hands-on responsibility. The Director Directly leads all department managers within the main plant and provides managerial oversight of all plant facilities.  The ideal candidate will have extensive experience identifying and implementing process improvements, setting performance standards, engineering controls and technology enhancements and maintaining the financial health of the company by making decisions with a focus on profit & loss.
Position Scope:
  • Full team management to include: hiring, training, directing workflow and individuals and discipline.
  • Leads team of managers to meet or exceed department’s goals
  • Develops and maintains a positive, respectful and accountable work environment. 
  • Responsible for productivity and quality (will often have to work side by side with his/her team to ensure the objectives are achieved).
  • Identifies opportunities to improve overall quality results by:
    • Studying, evaluating and re-designing processes
    • Establishing and communicating metrics
    • Monitoring and analyzing results and implementing change
  • Conducts research to continually identify ways to increase productivity, improve accuracy and simplify/streamline work processes.
  • Ensure the organization’s objectives are met in a timely and accurate manner and ensuring overall quality is maintained.
  • Occasional travel as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business or similar disciplines is strongly preferred.
Professional Experience:
  • Ten (10+) plus years of management experience in a production environment serving a business-to-business customer base. 
Administrative Experience:
  • Lean training coupled with experience leading in a Lean environment.
  • Must have demonstrated success in identifying and implementing enterprise-wide initiatives with strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive, team environment.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with internal customers and every level of employees.
  • Must be strongly organized, self-motivated and goal-oriented.
  • Ability to re-prioritize as needed and think on-the-fly.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet skills and familiarity with production oriented software systems. 
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or other design software) is preferred in order to read blueprints, make suggestions, mark-up and/or create designs.
